WASHINGTON, March 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ogilvy Public Relations is pleased to announce that The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently awarded Resilience Action Partners a $130 million contract to provide risk communication and mitigation planning services over the next five years. Resilience Action Partners is a joint venture between Ogilvy Public Relations and Michael Baker International.

FEMA's contract for Community Engagement and Risk Communication (CERC) supports national, regional and local efforts that change the way communities understand and think about disaster risks, with the specific goal of helping communities take actions to increase their resilience to natural disasters. Ogilvy's national experience in disaster education, mitigation, and response communications will be key to helping FEMA prepare communities and families to be more resilient in the face of natural disasters.

"Disaster communications has been a cornerstone of Ogilvy's portfolio for more than two decades," said Robert Mathias, CEO, North America, for Ogilvy Public Relations. "This is an exciting win and we will activate our network across North America to support Resilience Action Partners to tackle this critical topic in new and dynamic ways."

Marrying two industry leaders, Resilience Action Partners combines Ogilvy's communications and engagement expertise with Michael Baker's mitigation planning technical expertise. Together, the integrated team will help Americans take action to invest in being more resilient—protecting the future and the health of communities across the country.

"This engagement will allow us to interact with the public in a more direct manner than our typical engineering engagements," said Michael Baker International's Dale Gray, assistant vice president and Deputy Project Director on this contract. Our joint venture with Ogilvy combines the strengths of both organizations and we believe will serve us well in assisting the nation to become more resilient."
