Bodum USA is recalling about 28,000 coffee presses sold
exclusively at Starbucks Corp. (SBUX) after the manufacturer
received reports of injuries when the presses' glass carafes fell
out of the frame.
Bodum said it received 14 reports of the glass carafes breaking
or shattering when the eight-cup coffee press' plastic base
separated from the metal frame. Bodum, a tableware and kitchenware
manufacturer, also received four reports of minor injuries,
including burns and lacerations.
Customers should stop using the Bodum presses immediately and
return them to the Starbucks store, or contact Bodum, for a full
refund. The coffee press was sold at Starbucks' stores and website
for $40 from November through December.
