PMC to Sponsor and Present at UCSD Non-Volatile Memories Workshop 2015

UCSD Non-Volatile Memories Workshop, March 1-3, 2015, at the
University of California in San Diego.
Stephen Bates, technical director in PMC’s Chief Strategy and
Technology Office, will present two papers at the workshop:
“Quality of Service Implications of the Error Correction Techniques
in Solid State Drives,” and “Project Donard – Extending NVM Express
Functionality to Enable PCIe Peer-2-Peer Performance.”
These papers will explore:
- Combining NVM Express with Remote
Direct Memory Access (RDMA) protocols such as iWARP and Infiniband
to enable the efficient movement and storage of data around the
data center.
- How general purpose CPUs can be
offloaded from the burden of data movement to allow them to focus
on more revenue productive tasks such as analytics.
- How novel media-management techniques
can be used to improve the latency characteristics of SSDs.
