PMC-Sierra Inc. (PMCS) held talks with potential buyers in recent months, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing two people with knowledge of the matter.

A deal with the chipmaker isn't imminent amid lack of interest in its diverse portfolio, the sources told Reuters.

PMC didn't return calls for comment, while Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS), which is advising the company on its strategic options, declined to comment to Reuters.
