SeeHawk™ Analytics Identifies and Locates Performance-Impairing Interference

Patent Pending Algorithms Also Detect Rogue Transmissions

Provides Exposure Index (EI) Assessment

PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ:PCTI), a leader in Performance Critical Telecom solutions, announced today a breakthrough product for managing and mitigating performance-impairing interference in wireless networks. SeeHawk™ Analytics, built upon the big data platform acquired in 2015, applies eight innovative algorithms to network data and identifies interference that would otherwise go undetected. SeeHawk Analytics processes drive test data from PCTEL’s IBflex® and MXflex® scanning receivers in the cloud. Carriers, infrastructure vendors, or neutral host operators can immediately apply SeeHawk Analytics to existing data to detect interference hot spots. Using a simple map-based interface, SeeHawk Analytics can pinpoint – to the level of a parking spot – interference that can impair network capacity up to 50 percent.

“Interference mitigation challenges network operators on a daily basis. The existing processes for detecting and locating interference involve constant data collection, manual review of network data, and inconsistent application of network knowledge to resolving problems,” said Sumeet Paul, CIO and GM, Analytics and Services for PCTEL’s RF Solutions. “SeeHawk Analytics establishes network performance engineering rules and translates those rules into sophisticated algorithms. SeeHawk Analytics applies those algorithms to detect and locate interference. SeeHawk Analytics will displace significant engineering costs and avoid unnecessary infrastructure deployment,” added Paul.

“A year ago, we committed to applying ‘big data’ to the resolution of performance critical network engineering issues,” said David Neumann, PCTEL's Senior Vice President and General Manager, RF Solutions. “Sumeet Paul has brought much needed leadership to the SeeHawk Analytics product. SeeHawk Analytics will meaningfully reduce carrier and OEM costs in resolving interference and eliminating rogue transmissions. We are excited about our expansion into the information business,” added Neumann.

PCTEL will offer interference management as part of its engineering services to carriers, neutral hosts, and infrastructure vendors. As part of a Service Level Agreement (SLA), PCTEL will benchmark interference levels, develop plans for reducing interference, and test the effectiveness of plan implementation. The interference management service will be particularly important to high-density venues. Finally, the same tool yields an Exposure Index (EI) which assesses radiation safety levels.
