Ascom Network Testing and PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in Performance Critical Telecom solutions, announced today that the two companies would collaborate to offer Network Acceptance services that streamline the process of network site and cluster acceptance. The services will utilize PCTEL’s Meridian™ data analytics platform and Ascom’s TEMS™ network testing and analytics portfolio.

Cell site deployment and operation goes through three critical phases: design, deployment and acceptance, and maintenance. Adherence to stringent quality standards at all three phases is critical to ensure that complex technologies such as Voice over LTE (VoLTE) deliver on their promise to mobile subscribers. The new offering will combine Ascom’s industry leading TEMS™ network data collection and analytics with PCTEL’s Meridian platform and services capabilities to provide a cloud-based Network Acceptance service that combines built-in best practices, automated reporting, and dashboard summary reports. Cloud-based, post-processing of drive test data dramatically reduces the cost of performing cell site acceptance.

Prior to its acquisition by PCTEL, Nexgen Wireless worked closely with a major U.S. network operator to accept 13,000 cell sites utilizing the Meridian product suite. Meridian’s MapIQ™ can visually represent network deployment activities and KPI’s by cell site, sector, and carrier. Meridian’s Network IQ™ module cross-correlates field test and network OSS data to achieve target KPI’s and comply with Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance objectives. Both tools can be combined with Ascom’s TEMS™ data collection and network analytics portfolio to pinpoint and resolve design issues that would otherwise take weeks or months.

“We are delighted to extend our cooperation with Ascom into value-added services and cloud-based analytics,” said Marty Singer, PCTEL’s Chairman and CEO. “Ascom has deeper knowledge about network performance and cell site acceptance needs than any other global player in cellular networking. We are excited about the potential,” added Singer.

“As carriers grapple with increased complexity and growing data consumption, their modern networks require continuous monitoring and systems engineering,” said Rikard Lundqvist, General Manager for Ascom Network Testing. “The combination of PCTEL’s Meridian with the TEMS portfolio to provide this new service will deliver real value to customers worldwide as they work to improve the quality of their networks while keeping costs under control,” added Lundqvist.
