MILAN -(Dow Jones)- News Corp. (NWS) Friday said it is launching a new free-to-air television channel from Dec. 1 called Cielo in another sign that competition in Italy's once-staid television market is heating up. The channel will be available on Italy's digital broadcasting platform, and "will benefit from the experience and infrastructure of Sky Italia, News Corp's Italian pay television channel, the media conglomerate said in a statement. Gary Davey, currently the chief operating officer of News Corporation Stations Europe, will be the general manager of Cielo.
