MACOM’s MAOM-37051A, MAOM-002304 and MAOM-03409B Receive Recognition for Groundbreaking Technical Performance in the Optical Components Market

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of high-performance analog RF, microwave and optical semiconductor products, today announced that it has been recognized by Lightwave, a leading technical magazine and online portal for the fiber-optic communications community, with three prestigious Lightwave Innovation Awards in the area of Optical Components. MACOM’s MAOM-37051A, MAOM-002304 and MAOM-03409B were each recognized by a panel of expert judges for outstanding technical achievement.

The MAOM-37051A received a perfect 5.0 score, recognized as “a superb product that sets a new standard for performance and provides groundbreaking and new technical milestones” (Lightwave). The MAOM-37051A is a 25/28Gbps CDR with an integrated EML driver designed to meet the stringent size and power consumption requirements of CFP4 and QSFP28 optical modules.

This device integrates a high-performance quad channel 28Gbps CDR with a high output voltage driver which can drive EMLs and Silicon Photonics with voltages up to 2.5Vpp, allowing the MAOM-37051A to be used with the complete range of EMLs available on the market today. The quad channel, reference free CDR has adjustable rates to cover 100GbE, Infiniband, OTU4 and Fiber Channel applications while including adaptive input equalization and diagnostic features such as PRBS generator and error checker. The part is packaged in an 11mm x 7mm surface mount package and provides a low power EML based solution for small form factor optical modules.

“A perfect 5.0 score should be all a user needs to know about this product,” said Tim Hermes, Publisher of Lightwave. “This driver, by the judge’s scores and comments, obviously sets the gold standard for the Innovation Awards Optical Components section – and the program in general. It is extremely rare to see a perfect score…MACOM obviously delivered.”

MACOM’s MAOM-002304 and MAOM-03409B both received acclaimed 4.5 out of 5 ratings for their exemplary features and technical performance. The MAOM-002304 is a highly integrated, quad channel 28G direct modulated laser (DML) driver using a patent pending architecture to achieve the lowest possible power consumption while also providing excellent eye quality when used to drive a 28G DML. The MAOM-03409B is a quad channel linear differential modulator driver with linear output capability up to 4Vpp and industry leading power consumption, which enables 200G data rates in the pluggable coherent CFP2 modules.

“As 100G technology proliferates into metro and datacenter applications, optical components with top-quality technical performance are required,” said Ray Moroney, Product Line Director, High-Performance Analog, MACOM. “MACOM is honored to be recognized for three exemplary additions to the 100G market.”
