-- Babson College is one of the 353 most environmentally
responsible colleges in the world, according to The Princeton
Review. The education services company known for its test prep and
tutoring services, books, and college rankings has featured Babson
in the 2015 edition of its free book, The Princeton Review Guide to
353 Green Colleges.
The Princeton Review chose Babson to be included in the sixth
annual edition of its "green guide" based on data from its 2014
survey of hundreds of four-year colleges concerning their
commitment to the environment and sustainability.
In the book's "Green Facts" section, The Princeton Review gave
Babson a Green Rating of 95 (out of 99) and cites, "One of the
first things you notice when strolling Babson
College's tree-filled campus is a gigantic 28-foot-wide
sculpture of planet Earth. The Babson Globe--for some years the
largest rotating globe on the planet--is a visual indication of
Babson's commitment to sustainability and the environment.
Seventy-five percent of the college's 350-acre campus is maintained
organically. Park Manor West, the
newest residence hall on campus, has been built to LEED Silver
standards, Babson's minimum for new construction. As a business
school, Babson College's green
initiatives often focus on pairing sustainability and careers, a
growing part of the economy."

impeccable trash output reduction of nearly fourteen percent from
1,341 tons in 2005 to 1,156 tons in 2009," said Dallase Scott,

Profiles in The Princeton Review's Guide to 353 Green Colleges
provide information about each school's admission requirements,
cost and financial aid, and student body statistics. They also
include "Green Facts" about each school with details on the
availability of transportation alternatives and the percentage of
school food budgets spent on local and organic food.
Selection Criteria
The Princeton Review developed this guide based on "Green
Rating" scores from 60 to 99, tallied in summer 2014 using data
from its 2013-2014 survey of college administrators. The survey
asked each school to report on their sustainability-related
policies, practices, and programs. More than 25 data points were
weighted in the assessment. Schools with Green Rating scores of 83
or higher made it into the guide. Most of the schools in the
current edition are located in the U.S., while five are in
Canada and one is in Egypt.
