HGSI Human Genome Sciences, Inc. (MM)

GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK, GSK.LN) is in talks to acquire Human Genome Sciences Inc. (HGSI) in a $2.6 billion deal, Reuters reports on its website Sunday, citing "sources familiar with the situation."

Citing one of the sources, Reuters reported that GlaxoSmithKline could sweeten the deal slightly, and that an announcement could come as early as Monday.

A spokesman from GlaxoSmithKline declined to comment, Reuters said, adding Human Genome Sciences officials were not immediately available.
