Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems A/S (VWS.KO) said Thursday it has received an order for 22 turbines to be installed at the Lyrestad wind park in Mariestad, Sweden, with power produced from the development sold to Google as part of the tech company's drive to power its entire operations on clean energy.

Google announced at the end of last year that it was purchasing a further 842 megawatts of renewable energy and in addition to Thursday's deal with the Swedish wind farm it has also signed a similar agreement with a new 50-turbine project near Stavanger in Norway. In total the two new wind farms will provide 236 megawatts of energy and Google has signed long-term contracts to purchase all energy produced from both projects, it said.

"These new Nordic power purchase agreements complement our three other Swedish wind deals and enable us to power even more of our European operations with renewable energy," Google said in a blog post. "Thanks to Europe's increasingly integrated energy market, we're able to buy wind energy in Norway and Sweden, and consume it elsewhere in Europe."

In total, Google said it now has seven wind power purchase agreements in Europe, totalling more than 500 megawatts, and 18 such deals globally.
