DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Online auction giant eBay Inc. (EBAY) agreed to sell its Rent.com website to Primedia Inc. for an undisclosed sum, adding to the privately held web company's growing portfolio of rental services. Primedia, which was acquired by private-equity firm TPG Capital in July, said the deal will allow it to offer advertisers a more comprehensive suite of products that can provide better leads and leases. The company already owns ApartmentGuide.com, Rentals.com and RentalHouses.com, among other Web properties. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter. Primedia on Thursday didn't immediately provide usage statistics for the website, but many real-estate companies have reported stronger results from their exposure to multifamily housing in recent months as more residents choose renting over mortgages. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions. EBay shares were recently off 2 cents at $37.62 after hours. -By Drew FitzGerald, Dow Jones Newswires; 212-416-2909; Andrew.FitzGerald@dowjones.com
