The U.S. Justice Department has requested information on pricing contracts from DirecTV Group Inc. (DTV) and Dish Network Corp. (DISH), Bloomberg News reported Monday citing three people with knowledge of the matter. The two largest U.S. satellite-TV providers received civil investigative demands on information pertaining to contracts with television networks that contain provisions for favorable pricing and terms, two of the people told Bloomberg. The regulators want to find out whether pay-TV companies' practices are squeezing out Internet-video rivals by making it difficult for them to secure programming rights, the people said, according to the report. DirecTV, Dish and Justice Department spokespeople declined to comment to Bloomberg.
