Capella's first open enrollment season with the Benefitfocus
Marketplace not only eased the administrative and reporting burden

added more high-deductible health plans (HDHPs) to their benefits
mix and provided employees with the ability to model plan options
to see the employer and employee costs of each plan. Capella saw an
increase in HDHP enrollment from 25 percent in 2014 to 65 percent
in 2015—exceeding a trend reported in the Benefitfocus State of
Employee Benefits research, where large employers on the
platform saw more than 40 percent participation rates among several
age groups. This level of data transparency, along with additional
analysis and insights on plan enrollment and participation, helps
shape Capella's future plan design.

the right fit
With a consumer-like shopping experience, Benefitfocus
Marketplace walks Capella employees through the benefits enrollment
process, making it easy for them to see what tasks they need to
complete. Powerful plan comparison tools and engaging educational
videos appear within the context of the enrollment workflow. These
tools help employees better understand their benefit options and
arrive at a decision that can best fit their health and financial
needs.
Backed by a powerful content management system, benefits
administrators also guide employees' health and wealth care
decisions on a personal level. The system enables them to
communicate and engage with employees and their families throughout
the year – key for Capella's large percentage of remote workers.
Using filtering options within the platform's Messaging Center,
benefits administrators tailor more relevant benefits information
in a variety of formats to defined segments of its workforce. For
example, administrators can notify new parents to provide their
child's birth certificates, and employees can respond simply by
uploading a photo from their mobile devices.
