The online university introduces eight new, innovative offerings focused on Educational Innovation and Technology and redesigns its professional doctoral programs in Education to increase affordability and flexibility

Capella University, leading the way in innovative degree programs, is announcing eight new offerings designed to enhance teacher knowledge and classroom effectiveness in the growing area of education innovation and technology. Additionally, Capella has redesigned its professional doctoral Education degree programs with a focus on professionally aligned course content to increase affordability and flexibility. Capella University (http://www.capella.edu) is a regionally accredited online university which offers online degree programs designed to help working adults advance in their careers. Capella’s P-12 Education offerings are part of Capella's Professional Education Unit, which has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).*

“We’re expanding our offerings to provide content that reflects the future of education and where it’s headed, including increased use of technology,” said Jim Wold, PhD, Capella’s interim dean of Education. “We also continue to explore ways to enhance the value, flexibility, and affordability of our education programs in order to improve our learners’ experiences and help them reach their educational goals.”

In addition to launching a new program focus, Capella has redesigned its EdD programs to retain the most professionally relevant and applicable course content and reduce the time and cost of earning a degree. Capella has also introduced professionally relevant certificate offerings to coordinate with other specializations. This allows credits from one program to be applied to related programs at more advanced degree levels. For example, a student could earn a credential, such as a certificate, in a short amount of time, and later apply these credits toward a doctoral degree more affordably and at a pace that works with his or her situation.
