Millions invested to benefit over 400 businesses in multiple office parks in area

Comcast Business today announced a major network expansion in two large sections of the Bellevue, Washington area, which will reach 425 local businesses in the fitness, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and other industries. Comcast is investing more than $1.2 million in this network expansion.

“Comcast’s high-performance network will improve communications and Internet access for many Bellevue businesses,” said Bellevue Mayor John Stokes. “Bellevue is always interested in improving our competitive advantage and having more choices, and we value improved network services for our businesses and their customers.”

When the expansion is complete, businesses in the following areas – including those in the 520 Business Park, Evergreen Center, Bell East Office Park and Northup Park – will have access to scalable, high-performance Ethernet, Internet, Wi-Fi, TV and advanced voice services on the Comcast Business network:

  • 520 to the North, 130th Ave NE to the West, 134th PL NE to the East, NE 16th St. to the South.
  • 520 to the North, 140th Ave NE to the West, NE 20th St. to the South, 148th Ave. NE to the East.

“Once the need in the service area in the Bellevue office park was identified, planning an expansion was the obvious right decision,” said Matt Fassnacht, vice president of Comcast Business for the Washington Region. “We worked closely with city officials and then determined the expansion plan, which resulted in the largest investment of its kind in the area. This expansion will benefit hundreds of businesses and their customers by providing them with the high-performance network stability and support they desire as well as the scalability to grow.”

The Bellevue businesses will have access to a comprehensive portfolio of Ethernet options from Comcast Business, such as Ethernet Dedicated Internet, Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line and Ethernet Network Services. These services provide Internet access and high-performance communications that scale up to 10 Gbps. Companies will also be able to deploy Comcast Business VoiceEdge™, a cloud-based voice and unified communications solution designed to help customers run a faster, more efficient business.

Comcast’s network features a 100 Gbps backbone and expanded local footprint through Ethernet over HFC. Bandwidth is offered in three different classes of service, backed by strict service level agreements and monitored 24x7x365 from Comcast’s dedicated Network Operations Centers. Comcast was the first service provider in the world to offer Metro Ethernet Forum CE 2.0 certified Ethernet services and was also the first service provider to achieve all three of the previous CE 1.0 certifications (MEF 9, 14 and 18).
