"Level 3 to Buy TW Telecom for $5.7 Billion -- 5th Update," at 1:44 p.m. EDT, incorrectly stated how much Level 3 Communications Inc. has spent in acquisitions as well as how much it expects to save from its deal to buy TW Telecom. Level 3 has spent $25 billion, not $40 billion, in the past 15 years buying companies and building assets to string together 180,000 miles of fiber-optic cable bridging more than 60 countries. Meanwhile, Level 3 sees its deal with TW Telecom cutting costs by about $200 million a year, not $2.2 billion.
