Inventec is the largest ODM server manufacturer in the world and is a recognized leader in the delivery of high-performance and scalable server and storage designs to leading server OEMs as well as Mega Scale Data Center end user customers.  The  K850G3 platform from Inventec is a 2U rack mount server platform supporting two ThunderX SoCs in a dual socket configuration with up to 1024GB of DDR4 memory, flexible I/O configurations, and 12x 3.5" HDD per chassis.  This platform is optimized for workloads such as Hadoop, Spark, Cloud Compute, and other workloads requiring a balance of high computing performance with large storage capacity.

ThunderX is Cavium's 64-bit ARMv8 SoC for next generation Data Center and Cloud Applications. Integrated 48 high performance custom cores, high memory bandwidth and large memory capacity and dual socket capabilities deliver best in class compute and memory performance for targeted cloud applications.  Integrated 10/40GbE Ethernet and integrated SATA interfaces eliminate the need for external chipsets, NICs and storage HBAs thereby reducing customer cost and platform power.

"Inventec is the largest ODM server manufacturer in the world, and our success has been based on our compelling designs and manufacturing expertise," said Banks Chen, Senior Vice President of Inventec. "Earlier this year Inventec was requested to deliver platforms based on Cavium's ThunderX ARMv8 processors, and the new K850G3 (2U server) system is the first platform to be delivered.  We are now shipping sample systems and expect excellent demand from growing workloads such as Hadoop and high performance cloud."

"Inventec is well known for their robust and innovative designs and broad customer base in both Hyperscale and Enterprise server markets" said Gopal Hegde, VP/GM, Data Center Processor Group, Cavium, "They are a great addition to the growing list of ThunderX-based platform manufacturers."

Availability

Inventec K850G3 ThunderX-based servers are already sampling to select customers, and will be available in production by the end of this year.
