SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cavium, Inc.,
(NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that
enable intelligent processing for enterprise, data center, cloud,
wired and wireless networking, today announced a collaboration with
Bright Computing in support of Cavium's ThunderX processor family.
With this collaboration Bright Computing plans to deliver the
comprehensive software solutions of Bright Cluster Manager to
ThunderX for provisioning and managing HPC clusters, Hadoop
clusters and OpenStack clouds in the data center or in the
cloud.
Bright Cluster Manager for HPC enables customers to deploy
complete clusters over bare metal and manage them
effectively. It provides single-pane-of-glass management for
the hardware, the operating system, HPC software and users.
System administrators can get clusters up and running quickly and
keep them running reliably throughout their life cycle. Bright
Cluster Manager also delivers a robust set of user interfaces,
comprehensive metrics and monitoring along with a series of system
health checks. With Apache Hadoop Bright Cluster Manager can
be deployed as a complete Hadoop solution or provide the core
management structure for leading Hadoop distributions.
"With the increasing market demand for ThunderX in the HPC,
Hadoop and OpenStack segments we are thrilled to collaborate with
Cavium on Bright Cluster Manager," said Martijn de Vries, CTO at Bright Computing.
"Customers are continuing to look for faster time to deployment and
improved operational efficiency, especially with systems such as
ThunderX that are clearly optimized for scale out workloads.
Bright Cluster Manager addresses the key requirements of the
most demanding customers in these key system areas."
"Our collaboration with Bright Computing ensures that our
partners and customers will be able to quickly utilize the full
value of ThunderX with large deployments in their Data Center and
Cloud environments," said Larry
Wikelius, Director Thunder Ecosystems and Partner Enablement
at Cavium. "This collaboration on Bright Cluster Manager is
another example of Cavium's focus on complete solution enablement
for ThunderX and our commitment to a comprehensive and complete
ecosystem for ARMv8."
ThunderX is Cavium's 64-bit ARMv8 server processor family for
next generation high performance computing and hyperscale
workloads. With up to 48 high-performance custom cores,
single and dual socket capability, high memory bandwidth and
capacity, and integrated hardware accelerators, ThunderX enables
best-in-class ARMv8 performance per dollar and performance per
watt. The ThunderX family includes multiple SKUs that enable
servers optimized for compute, storage, network and security
workloads in the cloud, and is widely supported by industry-leading
OS, hypervisor, software tool and application vendors.
ThunderX is also optimized for networking specific workloads such
as Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
