SAN JOSE, Calif., June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Cavium, Inc.,
(NASDAQ: CAVM), a leading provider of products that enable secure
and intelligent processing for enterprise, data center, wired and
wireless networking, today announced a partnership with leading
network solution providers and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs)
to build and bring to market multiple hardware switch platforms
based on the XPliant™ family of Ethernet switches. ODM's next
generation switch platforms in various form factors target
Top-of-Rack (ToR) and leaf/spine deployment including:
- 32-port 40/100GE QSFP28/QSFP+ system.
- 48-port 10/25GE SFP+ + 6-port 40/100GE QSFP+ system.
Cavium's XPliant CNX880xx family of Ethernet switches are
designed for ToR and leaf/spine architectures as well as embedded
applications in transport, wireless infrastructure, compute and
networking appliances. XPliant Ethernet switches provide an
unparalleled flexibility in protocol processing without
compromising throughput and are suitable for the datacenter,
enterprise and service provider markets.
XPliant Ethernet switches provide bandwidths of up to 3.2
Terabits per second in monolithic silicon and support 1G, 10G, 25G,
40G, 50G and 100G interfaces. Hardware platforms, developed
with this highly configurable protocol independent switch, can be
used in multiple places in the network via software configurations.
Combining the new Xpliant switch silicon with the emerging hardware
and software open ecosystem, will now enable true SDN.
"The XPliant family of Ethernet Switch delivers a compelling
alternative to existing solutions," said Eric Hayes, VP/GM, Switch Platform Group at
Cavium. "I am pleased to see the speed at which networking industry
is adopting our revolutionary XPA architecture, enabling open,
flexible and scalable mega data centers."
Edge-Core
Edge-Core Networks Corporation is a professional networking
solution provider offering a complete range of enterprise-level,
service provider/carrier Ethernet, LAN/connectivity, and home
security networking equipment and services to partners around the
world.
Edge-Core Networks delivers bare metal switches with the Open
Network Install (ONIE), a standard, universal switchOS installer
that allows for the automated loading of compatible switchOS
software from third party software suppliers. The combination of
bare-metal switches and independent switchOS software allows
customers to deploy best-in-class hardware and software
independently, eliminates lock-in to a single vendor, and lowers
CAPEX through cost-effective hardware and software alternatives.
Edge-Core offers high performance bare-metal data center switches
for Top-of-Rack and Spine Network deployment.
"Customers building cloud infrastructures are increasingly
turning to open network solutions which are optimized for web-scale
applications," said George Tchaparian, CEO at Edge-Core
Networks. "We are developing 100GbE data center switches based on
Cavium XPliant Ethernet Switch silicon, which Edge-Core will
deliver to data center, telecom and enterprise customers who
require the increased capacity, performance and flexibility which
XPliant silicon enables."
