Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg on Monday toured the offices of China's top search engine, Baidu.com, the Associated Press reported, noting that the visit prompted speculation that the social-networking magnate was scouting business opportunities in the world's biggest Internet market. Facebook's namesake website is blocked on the mainland, but Zuckerberg has expressed a business interest in China and has studied Mandarin. Photos of Zuckerberg's visit to Baidu Inc. (BIDU, K3SD.SG) in Beijing were quickly posted online. Kaiser Kuo, Baidu's director of international communications, told the AP that Zuckerberg had lunch with Baidu CEO Robin Li. The spokesman said he didn't know what they talked about but added that the two had met before. Zuckerberg, who co-founded Facebook, was traveling with his girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, and no apparent entourage. "Mark has had a long personal interest in China," Kuo said, before adding a bit of advice to those expecting a deal to emerge: "Keep the speculation in check."
