Activision Blizzard Inc. said Wednesday that it named producer Stacey Sher co-president of Activision Blizzard Studios.

Ms. Sher will co-lead the studio with former Disney executive Nick van Dyk.

Activision Blizzard Studios makes television and films based on its iconic intellectual properties, including "Call of Duty" and "StarCraft."

Ms. Sher has produced more than two dozen major motion pictures—most recently Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight"—in addition to several TV series and TV movies. Her other film credits include "Pulp Fiction" and "Erin Brockovich."

Last week, Activision acquired Major League Gaming, a well-known producer and broadcaster of videogame competitions, as it works to build a new "e-sports" division.

Shares, which have risen 13% over the last three months, were inactive premarket.
