Chipmaker Infineon Files Patent Suit Against Atmel Corp.

German chipmaker Infineon Technologies AG (IFX.XE) said Tuesday
has filed a patent lawsuit against Atmel Corporation (ATML) for
infringing on U.S. patents.
MAIN FACTS:
-Infineon seeks damages and permanent injunction for
infringement of 11 U.S. patents owned by Infineon.
-An Infineon spokesman declined to comment on the amount of
damages the company is seeking.
-Infineon also seeks declaratory judgment of non-infringement
and invalidity of three U.S. patents owned by Atmel.
-The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the
District of Delaware.
-Infineon alleges that Atmel infringes the above Infineon
patents by making, using, selling, offering to sell and, or
importing into the U.S. various products, including
microcontrollers marketed under names AVR, XMEGA, and maXTouch, and
related products used in automotive, industrial, and touch screen
applications.
