Dr. St. Germain will join other Valley leaders who share the
mission of providing education, training and mentorship to
organizations and individuals looking to provide support services
to those who suffer from domestic and sexual abuse throughout
Arizona.
“University of Phoenix has a strong tradition of commitment to
public service in those communities where our students, faculty and
staff, live and work,” said Dr. St. Germain. “It is our
responsibility to educate and support students committed to public
service, in order to help prepare them to work in organizations
that serve abused and neglected children, as well as sexual and
domestic violence victims, such as those within the Arizona Child
Family and Family Advocacy Network.”
Preparing advocacy centers in Arizona and the professionals so
they can properly respond to violence and sexual assault is a vital
part to further reduce short-term and long-term effects caused by
domestic and sexual violence. In 2013, 35 programs in Arizona
served 1,796 victims of domestic violence in one 24-hour period1.
In order to continue to provide support services for victims, it is
imperative that access to education and guidance be made available
for community resources like ACFAN.
“We’ve found it essential to create new partnerships that will
enhance discussions and activities that will help further sustain
and improve our programs, as well as the advocacy centers, to
better serve our communities,” said Kathy McLaughlin, Executive
Director, Arizona Child and Family Advocacy Network. “We are
thrilled to have Dr. Constance St. Germain on the board to provide
guidance that will help us better serve our centers across
Arizona.”
