DOW JONES NEWSWIRES BMC Software Inc. (BMC) announced that it has added a pair of technology veterans to its board, increasing the panel's size to 11 directors. The additions are Autodesk Inc. (ADSK) Chief Financial Officer Mark Hawkins and Stephan A. James, who was most recently Accenture PLC's (ACN) international chairman. He spent nearly 40 year at the consulting company and sits on two other boards--Fidelity National Information Services Inc. (FIS) and Navigant Consulting Inc. (NCI). Hawkins has 15 years of senior executive experience in the technology industry. Before joining Autodesk, maker of the AutoCAD design software, he was an executive at Logitech International SA (LOGI) and Dell Inc. (DELL). BMC Chairman and Chief Executive Bob Beauchamp said on Monday that he welcomed both new members as they brought expertise and independent voices. The enterprise-software provider earlier this month said its fiscal fourth-quarter profit jumped 43%, but missed Wall Street expectations on modest revenue growth as one of the biggest contracts in its history was completed just minutes after the quarter ended, Beauchamp told Dow Jones Newswires at the time. That meant $15 million in revenue the company had hoped to record in the fourth quarter was pushed off to the current one. It also projected earnings for the new year above analysts' expectation. BMC has benefited from a trend toward virtualization, which allows one computer to do the job of many. The company has made a number of acquisitions in recent years as BMC adds software to its product line that helps companies deploy internal and external applications. Shares closed Friday at $37.78 and were inactive premarket. The stock is down 5.8% this year. -By Jodi Xu, Dow Jones Newswires; 212-416-3037; jodi.xu@dowjones.com
