Financial Accounting Standards Board definition :
The US independent board that establishes and improves financial accounting and reporting standards. FASB established standards are called generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and are used for the preparation of corporate financial reports. The Securities and Exchange Commission recognizes the accepted principles as authoritative.
