The last pic is at Meteora in mid north of Greece mainland.
It's a bit out of the way, but very worth visiting.

freddie, I am intrigued by the pic of active volcano titled "Hong Kong" (two days ago).
As far as I know, although Hong Kong is built in the area of a super-volcano, the last time it erupted was about 140 million years ago.

well I've seen 3 wet beavers together and sailed on the Brienzersee but if anyone knows where the last 2 are and what time of year it was (guessing springtime locally), please share

as ever Freddie, your posts are as welcome as the first gigantic mug of strong coffee every morning. Thank you from the heart for making the time to find and post them. You deserve a Gong in the NY honours list for services to humanity

The charming Mount Grace Priory, founded 1398, dwells within the parish of East Harsley, North Yorkshire; and is the best preserved and most accessible of the ten medieval Carthusian houses in England. The Carthusians are a group of Catholic monks; and their website states they share the values of silence, work, poverty, chastity, obedience, prayer, and humility.

The terribly mysterious, positively prehistoric Stonehenge, in Wiltshire, believed to have been built between 3000-2000 BC

Helsinki is the capital and most populous city of Finland, with a population of slightly more than 650,000. Located on the northern shore of the Gulf of Finland, it is the country's center of politics, education, finance, culture and research. Helsinki has one of the world's highest standards of urban living, and the United Nations “World Happiness Report” has named Finland the Happiest Country in the World for the five consecutive years.

The Jwaneng Diamond Mine in Botswana is the richest diamond mine in the world, with an annual output of as much as 15.6 million carats. Mine richness takes into account the rate of diamond extraction combined with quality of the diamonds that are mined, by sale price per weight. To extract the diamonds, the facility produces 9.3 million tons of ore and an additional 37 million tons of waste rock per year

Sand dredging boats gather on Poyang Lake in China’s Jiangxi Province, one of the world’s busiest dredging sites. On an average day here, hundreds of vessels can collect upwards of 10,000 tonnes of sand per hour, much of which is used in land reclamation projects. Poyang is China’s largest lake, but it is losing water fast — its outflow channels have been carved deeper and wider by dredging.

I am so shocked that this “Tear Drop” 9/11 memorial exists right across from NYC and yet we do not hear about it. This is a 100-foot tall monument given to the U.S. back in 2006 by the Russian people in memory of all those that lost their lives on 9/11. The breaking in the cracked facade forms the shape of the two towers. The giant suspended tear drop symbolizes all the tears the world had shed in response to this terrifying day. Absolutely beautiful. It is located in Bayonne, New Jersey, which is just on the other side of the water near the Statue of Liberty. It is a shame that such a beautiful memorial is given barely any attention and I think it should be shown every year around this time. Feel free to share this post to your walls!
