For most of its life it has outperfomed the ft350 But not for some time A breakthrough would make this stock much more attractive to a lot of people Meanwhile it seems very dependant on the general market

Tesco plans to establish itself as a major player in the broadband and landline phone market. It will offer combined broadband and home phone packages for the first time, setting itself up as a rival to to BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk.

BT was downgraded to neutral from overweight on Tuesday by JP Morgan, which said there is a reduced scope for positive surprises. "This and the increased pension liability drive a downgrade to our valuation," wrote analysts. "We believe the pending pension review will limit near-term performance."

6.825p is a yield of 4.84%, VOD is currently on 5.99%. There are better shares to hold in the FTSE if you want good dividends. My target was 150p prior to these results (based on yield 4.75%/7.13p div), now lowered it to 144p so will be looking to get today.
