International stocks trading in New York closed lower on Monday. The Bank of New York index of American depositary receipts fell 1.1% to 155.98. The European index decreased 1.3% to 151.25, the Asian index dropped 0.4% to 155.38, the Latin American index fell 2.3% to 313.62 and the emerging markets index declined 1.2% to 318.5. Among the companies with shares that actively traded were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (RBS, RBS.LN) and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LYG, LLOY.LN) .

Scotland-focused stocks fell, whacked by a poll over the weekend showing that the number of those favoring Scottish independence had eclipsed those opposing a split for the first time since the referendum campaign began. On Monday Royal Bank of Scotland Group shares fell 3.3% to $11.01, while Lloyds' shares dropped 4.3% to $4.70.

Ryanair Holdings PLC (RYAAY, RYA.LN, RYA.DB) said on Monday that it would buy as many as 200 more-efficient Boeing Co. (BA) narrow-body jets as it seeks to grow the discount airline and maintain its cost edge over rivals. Shares rose 14 cents to $57.84.
