Morgan Stanley hired three financial advisers in August, including one from Barclays PLC's U.S. wealth-management division.

Adviser Louis Greif, from Barclays, joined Morgan Stanley in New York, a spokeswoman for the firm said Tuesday. William Goettert and John Entenberg, from Citigroup Inc.'s private bank, joined in Boca Raton, Fla.

Mr. Greif, who has generated $1.3 million in fees and commissions annually, joined the firm on Aug. 3, while, Messrs. Goettert and Entenberg started on Aug. 14. Those two managed $1 billion in client assets at Citi and generated $5 million in annual production.

Both Mr. Goettert and Mr. Entenberg had been at Citi since 2010 and were at Merrill Lynch for 10 years before that, according to their BrokerCheck records.

Barclays declined to comment on Mr. Greif's departure. A Citi spokeswoman confirmed that Messrs. Goettert and Entenberg left the firm, but declined to speak further on the matter.

Mr. Greif, who had been at Barclays since 2013 after a 15-year stint at UBS Group AG, is the latest Barclays adviser to depart the firm ahead of joining Stifel Financial Corp., which agreed to buy Barclays's U.S. wealth unit in June.

Dozens of the 180 Barclays advisers at the time of the deal's announcement have joined rivals such as Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley, while others have launched independent practices, passing on deals to join Stifel.

Stifel previously said it expects to close the Barclays purchase in November.
