Sir David Walker is expected to be named as the new chairman of Barclays PLC (BCS) on Friday, Sky News City Editor Mark Kleinman reports Thursday, without saying where he got the information. Mr. Walker is expected to join Barclays within weeks and will replace Marcus Agius as chairman in the autumn, Sky said. His first role will be to recruit a successor to Bob Diamond, Sky said. Mr. Diamond resigned as chief executive after Barclays was fined 290 million pounds ($453 million) for manipulating Libor, the primary benchmark for setting short-term lending rates. Mr. Walker will also need to examine the structure of Barclays as a universal bank with both high street and investment banking operations, Sky said. Barclays declined to comment when contacted by Dow Jones Newswires.
