Reporting to the Senior Systems Administrator, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of ADVFN's infrastructure. They will also work towards improving the reliability, scalability and performance of the website. The systems team additionally provides first line support to the development team to assist with development and deployment of new services.
The candidate needs a strong background in Linux systems administration.
The position involves working either 07:30-16:30 or 9:00-18:00, some out of hours working and on-call.
Essential skills:
* Linux in a commercial environment. Preferably Debian, but other distributions will be considered
* Strong PostgreSQL knowledge
* Experience with a broad range of open source technologies
* Scripting languages such as PHP/Perl/Python
* Infrastructure applications including Bind and Exim
* PHP and Apache performance tuning
* Some TCP/IP and Ethernet networking skills
* Knowledge of STP an advantage
