Pound Strengthens Ahead Of U.K. Retail Sales Data

(RTTNews) - At 4:30 am ET Thursday, U.K 's Office for National Statistics will release its retail sales report. Retail sales, including auto fuel, are expected to grow 4.4 percent year-over-year in November after the 4.3 percent rise in October. Excluding auto fuel, retail sales are estimated to increase at a slower rate of 4.5 percent following the 4.6 percent climb in the previous month.

Ahead of the data, the pound advanced against its major counterparts.

The pound was trading at 1.5628 against the greenback, 185.25 against the yen, 0.7883 against the euro and 1.5267 against the franc as of 4:25 am ET.
