British Pound Tumbles Further Against Majors

The British currency edged down further against major opponents during New York morning deals on Friday. The pound declined t new multi-week lows against the US dollar and the Japanese yen during the same period.
Extending European session's downtrend, the pound ticked down further in New York morning deals and touched multi-week lows of 1.6463 against the dollar and 146.51 versus the yen at about 7:05 am ET. The sterling is currently trading near 146.99 against the yen and 1.6518 versus the greenback, compared to Thursday's closing values of 148.34 and 1.6670, respectively.
The sterling also traded lower against the euro and the Swiss franc in today's morning deals. At 9:00 am ET, the pound slipped to fresh multi-day lows of 0.9016 against the euro and 1.6787 versus the franc from yesterday's close of 0.8957 and 1.6890, respectively. At present, the British currency is trading near 1.6828 against the franc and 0.9001 versus the euro.
