Bearish, $261 break leads to $230, a break there opens us to my target of $190/$200 longer/intermediate term by around election time. $261 could hold and war time talk could prop this thing up, but TA wise i'm bearish!

General Dynamics Electric Boat Awarded $5.1 billion by U.S. Navy for Columbia-Class Submarines
5:49 pm ET December 21, 2022 (PR Newswire)

General Dynamics Electric Boat announced today the U.S. Navy has awarded a $5.1-billion modification of the previously awarded Columbia Integrated Product and Process Development Contract for the Columbia class of submarines, the nation's next-generation sea-based strategic deterrent.

https://mma.prnewswire.com/media/1973096/General_Dynamics_submarine.jpg

Electric Boat is the prime contractor on the Columbia program, which will replace the aging Ohio class ballistic missile submarines. The District of Columbia (SSBN 826) and Wisconsin (SSBN 827) are presently under construction.

The contract modification has a value of $5,134,324,189. Work will be performed in Groton, Connecticut; Quonset Point, Rhode Island; and Newport News, Virginia; and is expected to be completed by October 2030. The award funds advance procurement and advance construction of critical components and material to support Build II (the next five ships in the class), efforts to support continuous missile tube production, enhancements to develop the Submarine Industrial Base, and sustained class maintenance and support.

"This award enhances Electric Boat's efforts to maintain the Columbia-class production and delivery schedule. Advance procurement of long lead time materials and component construction is critical to the program, and the strategic investments in the development and expansion of the Submarine Industrial Base will help stabilize and grow the supply chain, which increases manufacturing capacity, reduces risk, and ultimately drives timely delivery of submarines to the Navy," said Kevin Graney, president of General Dynamics Electric Boat.

At 560 feet long with a displacement of nearly 21,000 tons, the submarines of the Columbia class will be the largest ever built by the United States. Ships of the Columbia class will have a fuel core that will power the submarine for its entire service life, eliminating the need for a mid-service refueling. Electric Boat will deliver the lead ship to the Navy in 2027.

General Dynamics Electric Boat designs, builds, repairs and modernizes nuclear submarines for the U.S. Navy. Headquartered in Groton, Connecticut, the company employs more than 19,000 people. More information about General Dynamics Electric Boat is available at www.gdeb.com.

In just ten months, Epirus and GD transformed system from concept to field demonstrated with successful denial of multiple electronic targets

Highlights:

Successful integration of Epirus' Leonidas high-power microwave (HPM) array with General Dynamics Land Systems Stryker ground combat vehicle, one year after the companies inked a strategic teaming agreement in October of 2021.
Leonidas' software weaponeering and modular architecture paired with the Stryker's track-record of combat effectiveness enable unprecedented counter-electronics capabilities for the maneuver force.
Tested and proven counter-swarm capabilities and planned system enhancements will deliver overmatch capabilities against present and future electronic threats.
WASHINGTON, Oct. 5, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Epirus, a high-growth technology company developing directed energy systems that enable unprecedented counter-electronics effects and General Dynamics Land Systems (GD), a global leader in providing innovative, high technology and next-generation ground combat solutions to customers around the world announced today the introduction of Stryker Leonidas.

A working prototype of the Stryker Leonidas system at a recent field demonstration

After signing a strategic teaming agreement in October 2021, the companies have successfully integrated Epirus' high-power microwave array with the Stryker ground combat vehicle and will unveil the integrated system at the Association of the U.S. Army's (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, D.C.

Developed in under a year, Stryker Leonidas was recently field demonstrated at a U.S. government testing site successfully disabling individual drone targets and swarms of drones. The integration of Leonidas, the world's most powerful HPM phased array, with Stryker, the U.S. Army's largest and most reliable combat vehicle fleet brings counter-electronics capabilities to the frontlines – providing a proven and cost-effective layered defense solution for the maneuver force.

"The integration of Epirus' Leonidas system with General Dynamics Land System's Stryker vehicle provides the U.S. Army a cost-effective, maneuverable and tested defense capability against current and emerging threats to the warfighter," said Leigh Madden, Chief Executive Officer of Epirus. "Epirus' culture of innovation and GD's decades-long track record of delivering cutting-edge solutions will only continue as we work together to develop further capabilities."

Leonidas' counter-swarm effectiveness fills a pressing short range air defense (SHORAD) capability gap for the joint force as the threat of swarming drones continues to endanger troops and civilians overseas and in the homeland.

The continued evolution of adversaries' swarming drone capabilities is matched by Epirus' software-weaponeering capabilities, which allows the system to continually intake new data, rapidly update its sophisticated waveforms and expand its magazine depth for enhanced SHORAD mission assurance across all domains. With its open architecture, Leonidas can integrate with a range of Command-and-Control (C2) platforms to detect, track and defeat the increasing deployment of drone technology by adversaries and non-state actors.

"Adding Leonidas' counter-electronics capabilities to the Stryker combat vehicle provides the joint force with unmatched mobile protection from the continuously evolving threat of weaponized drones," said Gordon Stein, Vice President of U.S. Operations at General Dynamics Land Systems. "As the Army's largest combat vehicle fleet, Stryker is combat-proven, cost-effective, highly mobile, versatile, sustainable and transportable and continues to be a highly sought platform beyond the Stryker Brigade Combat Team formations."

Stryker Leonidas is the latest edition to Epirus' suite of HPM systems – along with the company's ground-based Leonidas system for surface-to-air defense and Leonidas Pod, a first-of-its kind, mobile and compact HPM system. When deployed in tandem, the Leonidas family of products create a layered counter-swarm and counter-electronics field of protection. Epirus is also actively exploring future capabilities to defend against next-generation threats.

Epirus (Booth #253) and GD (Booth #801) will participate in this year's AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, D.C. (October 10-12) to showcase a full-scale Stryker Leonidas prototype on display in the GD exhibit.

Simanek (ESB 7), the seventh ship, is currently under construction.

In 2016, the Navy awarded NASSCO with a contract to design and build the first six ships in the next generation of fleet oilers, the John Lewis-class (T-AO 205), previously known as the TAO(X). Designed to transfer fuel to U.S. Navy carrier strike group ships operating at sea, the 742-feet vessels have a full load displacement of 49,850 tons, with the capacity to carry 157,000 barrels of oil, a significant dry cargo capacity, aviation capability and up to a speed of 20 knots. General Dynamics Electric Boat awarded $313.9 million contract modification by U.S. Navy for Columbia-class submarines

GROTON, Conn., May 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Electric Boat, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today it was awarded a modification to the previously awarded Columbia Integrated Product and Process Contract by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The modification has a total value of $313.9 million.

The contract modification will support submarine industrial base development and expansion for the construction of the Columbia-class fleet ballistic missile submarines as well as additional support for the manufacturing, procurement and delivery efforts for United Kingdom Strategic Weapon Support System kits.

"Ballistic-missile submarines are the critical, survivable leg of our nation's nuclear arsenal and Columbia is the Navy's top acquisition priority," said Kevin Graney, president of General Dynamics Electric Boat. "We are grateful for the steadfast trust and support the Navy and Congress have in Electric Boat as we continue the work we began 15 years ago to deliver Columbia and the next 60 years of deterrence for our nation."

Electric Boat will continue to work with its vendors and sub-contractors to optimize efforts to ramp up production capability and support the increased demand associated with the Columbia program.

At 560-feet long with a displacement of nearly 21,000 tons, the submarines of the Columbia class will be the largest ever built by the United States. The Columbia will have a life-of the-ship fuel core that will power the submarine for its entire service life, eliminating the need for a mid-service refueling and increasing the time the ship can spend on deployment. Electric Boat will deliver the lead ship to the Navy in 2027.

General Dynamics Mission Systems Receives NSA Contract for High Assurance Ethernet Encryptor
May 17 2022 - 11:30AM
PR Newswire (US)

High-speed security solution provides scalable encryption to protect classified high-availability data centers and cloud environments, securing critical information access, sharing and collection from around the globe

FAIRFAX, Va., May 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Mission Systems announced today that it has been awarded a contract from the National Security Agency (NSA) to design, develop, test and deliver a certifiable 400 Gbps high-assurance encryption solution that is compliant with the Ethernet Data Encryption Cryptographic Interoperability Specification (EDE-CIS).

General Dynamics Mission Systems has been awarded a contract from the NSA for a certifiable 400 Gbps high-assurance encryption solution that is compliant with the Ethernet Data Encryption Cryptographic Interoperability Specification (EDE-CIS).

The winning solution includes the modular TACLANE E-Series Adaptable Security Platform (ASP) and the TACLANE-ES400 Cryptographic Module. Each module supports throughput ranging from 20 Gbps to 400 Gbps. When the TACLANE-ASP is fully populated with two ES400 modules, the solution supports aggregate speeds of 1.6 Tbps, more than eight times faster than any other certified encryptor today. The high-speed, fault-tolerant solution is engineered to efficiently scale power needs while maintaining performance. Its modular architecture allows customers to right-size their encryption solution to meet specific needs through the application of user-swappable hardware components, crypto modules and software upgrades.

"General Dynamics Mission Systems is known for providing the most widely deployed high assurance encryptors in the world. With the development of the ASP and TACLANE-ES400 cryptographic modules, we are continuing to advance our encryption portfolio to address our customers' need for high performance processing and speed with uncompromised data security and efficient power consumption," said Brian Morrison, vice president for the Cyber Systems line of business with General Dynamics Mission Systems. "This win demonstrates our commitment to our customers who require the highest of speeds. It also validates our unique modular approach, fully aligned with NSA's vision of Crypto as IT (CIT). We will deliver a future-proof TACLANE E-Series portfolio, which will ensure that our customers' investments can be re-used as speeds increase."

The design of the TACLANE E-Series ASP reduces the equipment footprint while balancing power and cooling needs. Its redundant design for power and failover eases maintenance and sustainability requirements, increasing operational availability and reducing downtime to keep mission critical networks working. When bandwidth and security needs grow, the design of the TACLANE E-Series ASP allows for end-users to add functionality and capability without infrastructure changes.

As with all TACLANE products, the TACLANE ASP and the ES400 Crypto Module are supported by the GEM One Encryptor Manager with the new Key Management Infrastructure Delivery Only Client feature to simplify operations and facilitate easier management and configuration. In addition to this feature, GEM One provides the ability to rapidly assess overall network health and to quickly isolate and recover from failures, eliminating downtime.

4 STOCKS VALUE INVESTORS SHOULD CONSIDER ADDING TO THEIR PORTFOLIOS IN JANUARY
About the Author: Sweta Vijayan

Though the year-end Santa Claus Rally enabled major benchmark indexes to hit their record highs this Monday, the macroeconomic headwinds are expected to cause a market correction soon. As investors are seeking shelter in well-established undervalued stocks, we believe Oracle (ORCL), Northrop Grumman (NOC), General Dynamics (GD), and MetLife (MET) are expected to profit substantially and outperform the broader markets in the coming months.

Rising inflation, supply chain constraints, surging COVID-19 cases, and the Federal Reserve’s hawkish monetary policy have resulted in immense market volatility lately. However, markets have benefited from the Santa Claus Rally over the past week, as major benchmark indexes hit their all-time highs on Monday.

Investors have been focusing on stocks with solid fundamentals and lower valuations to avoid facing losses in the anticipated market correction. The growing investor optimism in large-cap value stocks is evident from the iShares Morningstar Value ETF’s (ILCV) 4.1% gains over the past month versus the SPDR S&P 500 Trust ETF’s (SPY) 4% returns.

Thus, it could be wise to add undervalued large-cap stocks Oracle Corporation (ORCL), Northrop Grumman Corporation (NOC), General Dynamics Corporation (GD), and MetLife, Inc. (MET) to your portfolios now. These large-cap stocks possess significant upside potential to dodge market fluctuations and deliver solid returns in the coming months.

Oracle Corporation (ORCL)

With a market capitalization of $239.11 billion, ORCL provides products and services that address all aspects of corporate IT environments, including application, platform, and infrastructure worldwide. It markets and sells its solutions directly to businesses in various industries, government agencies, educational institutions, and indirect channels.

ORCL announced an agreement to acquire Cerner Corporation (CERN), a leading supplier of health information technology services, devices, and hardware, for $28.30 billion in equity value. The companies are looking forward to providing medical professionals a new generation of easier-to-use digital tools that gives access to information via a hands-free voice interface, lower overall healthcare costs, and help make better treatment decisions resulting in better patient outcomes.

“Having the support of one of the largest, most innovative and technologically advanced defense contractors further deepens our industry credibility and the market appeal for Epirus’ directed energy product portfolio. With Leonidas integrated into GD’s combat vehicle fleet, we are unlocking new SHORAD and counter-electronics capabilities to equip our warfighters with combat effective systems that dismantle the threats of today and tomorrow. I look forward to continuing our partnership with our General Dynamics Land Systems colleagues and know that, together, we can deliver on our customers’ mission needs,” said Leigh Madden, Epirus Chief Executive Officer.
