I first bought Avesco in the early 1990s before they floated off videologic. I made a packet, but sold too soon. I bought again a couple of years ago and saw the share price rise from 100p to 650p.

I too sold at 635p but for a different reason. The price of 635p is way beyond anything I could have expected and is a realised figure. The 650p whilst perhaps 98-99% certain is subject to the bidder`s capacity to deliver, a collapse in the markets in the intervening period, the discovery of undisclosed matters at AVS etc etc. At this very small discount it seemed sensible to close out any risk, however remote. It does of course, as others have pointed out, also release funds for other investment.

yup well done management! and Shares for tipping this just after Brexit where I picked it up due to £$ benefit....have sold all now and ploughed into DTG which IMO is worth a look, not sure it will do an AVS, but oversold and trading update yesterday provided comfort....DYOR and on to the next one

If Mr. Murray and the Company Directors are personally recommending the Offer, I am totally comforted that it is an excellent offer for shareholders.

Mr. Murray has too much at stake in Avesco not to have driven anything other than a brilliant bargain with NEP for shareholders at 650p. What a jaw-dropping premium!

I can immediately say that I personally will be voting in favour of the Recommended Offer at 650p on the basis of the Founding Chairman's Recommendation.

Haven't yet read everything but seems like pay-date will be on or before 1st March 2017.

The market is showing a current mid-market price of 625p versus the 650p take-out price.

I personally will wait for the Pay-Out at 650 rather than selling in to the market early.

Good Luck to All shareholders and let's perhaps do everything to facilitate Mr. Murray's Recommended Offer.

A Founding Chairman who has always treated shareholders very fairly and is a pre-eminent example of excellent corporate ethics and company stewardship.

Thanks again Mr. Murray and Team.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

I think this is quite a generous offer and a counter-bid seems unlikely to me because of the below:

Accordingly, the Avesco Directors have unanimously approved the Acquisition and intend to recommend that Avesco Shareholders vote in favour of the Scheme at the Court Meeting and at the General Meeting, as they have irrevocably undertaken to do so in respect of their own beneficial holdings of, in aggregate, 6,368,149 Avesco Shares representing approximately 33.4 per cent. of the issued share capital of Avesco on 16 November 2016 (being the last Business Day prior to the date of this announcement). Such irrevocable undertakings shall remain binding in the event that a higher competing offer for Avesco is made.

In addition to the irrevocable undertakings from the Avesco Directors, NEP has also received irrevocable undertakings from Herald Investment Trust plc, Charles Stanley & Co Limited, Mr Ian Martin and Paul Jaconelli to vote in favour of the Scheme at the Court Meeting and the Special Resolution to be proposed at the General Meeting in respect of, in aggregate, 4,870,779 Avesco Shares, representing approximately 25.5 per cent. of the issued share capital of Avesco on 16 November 2016 (being the last Business Day prior to the date of this announcement). Such irrevocable undertakings shall remain binding in the event that a higher competing offer for Avesco is made.

NEP has therefore received irrevocable undertakings to vote in favour of the Scheme at the Court Meeting and the Special Resolution to be proposed at the General Meeting in respect of, in aggregate, 11,238,928 Avesco Shares representing, in aggregate, approximately 58.9 per cent. of the issued share capital of Avesco on 16 November 2016 (being the last Business Day prior to the date of this announcement).

gdjs100 - In a previous post you mention that I didn't deduct tax in my blog projections. I did. I deducted the 2015 figure of £854,000. All my calculations used the 2015 figures. This is clearly too low looking forward. However, it doesn't diminish my wider point about the leaner company going forward and I stand by my possible future price projections.

Let's take Edison's normalised fully diluted EPS figures for this year and next.

They are predicting 21.5p for the year just ended, and 27.3p for 2017 (EOY September).

That's growth of 27%.

Applying a p/e ratio of 20 to current year earnings gives a share price of £4.30.

Of course if they can continue with double digit growth then a p/e ratio of 20 is not unreasonable for 2017 earnings i.e. share price of £5.46.

Given the quality of the assets, balance sheet strength and progressive dividend policy, I can quite plausibly see Avesco trading on a higher ratio than 20.

Paul Scott email just out is bullish on AVS....DYOR etc, but he likes the deal and is looking to hold on for £4-£5.....interesting read...also he talked of this disposal possibly raising the prospect of a trade sale? All interesting stuff and helping share price push higher...DYOR etc.

But look back at the share price performance taking into account divs and special divs it has been a superb share to hold. So I for one can ignore the lack of communication. I would much rather they got on and run their business

Following the last "comfortably" statement look at the share price from around May 2015 in the run up to the interims in June.

I know that the usual dividend is to be paid in March, but Sippdeal are telling me that there is no special dividend and my sipp account is showing a loss from the fall in avs share price.
