Due to the popularity of the beverage, coffee is one of the world's most important primary commodities.

The largest exporting nation of coffee remains Brazil, but in recent years the market has seen large quantities emerging from Vietnam. Coffee has proven to be an important and vital export for some countries.

The seed of a coffee plant is the source of the coffee bean, which is usually roasted before use. Also, about one-third of the tap water used in North America and Europe goes towards the consumption of coffee.
