Finally, you can modify query manually after you get it (or write it from scratch, or paste it from clipboard into the input box). Note that 'Remember this query' checkbox for this page causes only raw query to be stored, not all of the other input boxes. The '+' and '-' signs are shortcuts for more usual AND, OR, NOT syntax. Here is an example of how one can be replaced by another:

(A OR B) AND C AND NOT D
+(A B) +C -D

it's important when you use 'human-readable' words AND, OR, NOT to put them in all capitals, to be distinguished from just words 'and, or, not' which will be ignored as they are just 'noise words' for full-text searches.

Date range clause, which is generated automatically from your input, can serve as a good example of '+' and ' ' syntax. It is appended at the right to your search criteria. To use raw query after you've modified it, check a box left to the words 'Raw query'. Don't forget to uncheck it if you later want to use other input boxes, as its state will be preserved.
